I need advice!

2 min read
There is an artist here on DA (who I watch and watches me) who has drawings of me (some include my boyfriend or my friends :iconpikabellechu: and Sam) in her gallery. She says that she had people pose for her or that they are original creations, when they are blatant copies of photos I have had taken by Maboroshi (www.risingsun.net). Perhaps even traced off a computer monitor.

Sure, these drawings are from years ago, but I only recently stumbled over them. I asked her nicely in a comment on her profile here to put the proper credit (Maboroshi as photographer and the appropriate models) in the descriptions. I have the originals to some of the pictures, and I think I should post links to them on the individual deviations.

Here is where the advice comes in. These drawings were posted cir. 2006. Is it too late to have her post proper credit? Should I track down the rest of the photos used? Should I contact DA?

Is it too late?

Should I move on and ignore it?

I am stuck...

Drawings are here:

I checked her profile, and she *seems* to have deleted the ones of me and Roy, and she hid my comment without replying. I posted one of the photos of Roy and me on my profile (from an EGL shoot), so I think she got rid of all of those, but these others remain.

Out of curiosity, I decided to look up "The Fight Card Cosplay" in the search bar on the main page. Mostly, because I am usually so proud of :iconshinraifaith: for having a deviation on the first "Most Popular Deviations of all time" page.

Well, I was surprised to see that my costume is featured on the first page twice, but not through my own profile, haha. I am usually really hard on myself concerning my cosplay, and I really don't see myself as some sort of high-class cosplayer (upper middle-class, maybe!).

It's a real boost to my cosplay confidence to see my work featured under "Most Popular Deviations of all time." :]

"The Fight" by :iconshinraifaith: (shinraifaith.deviantart.com/ar…)

"The Fight" by :iconneko-kaolla: (neko-kaolla.deviantart.com/art…)

I don't really get a lot of notice for my work like a lot of my cosplayer friends do (and I am not jealous, as I am too busy being über proud of them!), so it really feels really good to see that people are noticing the piece that I am the most proud of.

I know this all probably sounds incredibly self-centered and pompous, but I mean it in the most humble way possible. I am really honored that people like my Fight Card cosplay so much. Someone even commented on a photo on Facebook (someone I've never met) that I made "[her] inner child squee with delight. xD"

I can't wait to update the costume with the ideas I have for it (specifically for the boots and gloves).

Another year, another Megacon over (weird to think next year marks 10 years since my first Megacon, and I have only missed one, 2003, that whole time!!), and it was a great one! I never encountered any drama (*gasp*), and there were a LOT of AMAZING costumes! The costume/civilian ratio is starting to be more in favor of costumes!! Looking through galleries makes me notice how many awesome costumes I missed!

Friday, I wore my Black and White Lolita dress, so I was nice and comfy. Bought my ticket (didn't even have to wait that long!!), helped :iconneko-kaolla: to get hers, and we wandered around. Found :iconeglpirate: and Julie got some photos of her. Continued wandering. I bought a Cinnamorroll plushie phone charm that was OMGADORABLE, and later got another Fantasy Puppet from A Midsummer Knight's Dream (a bosom buddy bat who is totally emo...glue drip from his eye resembles a tear, so I flattened his fur over one eye). The MKD people said Julie and I can retrofit our puppets from 2004 (yellow cables and all) with the new magnetic feature that helps to keep them on your shoulder. Good to know! *puts on to-do list* I also registered for the Anime Sushi costume contests (#56!).

Saturday morning, I was up nice and early to make sure I was ready to arrive by 11 to the con. Took only about 20 minutes or so to do my make up for The Fight (I didn't think to time it...haha), but I think it took longer back in "the day" to make my bangs disappear for Quistis! I finished getting dressed and put the wig on at the convention. Most of the day was spent chilling and waiting for my prejudging and lineup (and I got a little shoot in with Julie and hung out while she shot John and Lyn as the 10th Doctor and Rose Tyler). I was surprised how often I got stopped! Especially by cheerleaders and children! This year, the cheerleaders were really good (some bragged about sneaking in, but there was security at every door, so OMG YOU SNEAKED INTO A HALLWAY!!!) and were genuinely complementary and some even asked about my wig. I was totally charmed by a little (ITTY BITTY!!!) Princess Peach, and I think I got a new friend! She even found me during the contest (she was several groups behind me). I did not win anything in the contest (but I didn't expect to, the caliber of talent was waaaaaaaaaayyyyy above my butterfly-shaped head!!), but it was awesome to finally enter again, and Julie did a great job hosting, so I was happy for the experience!! I went into the Dealer's Room once....regretted it instantly, haha. Too hot!!!!! My make up held up great, so YAY for my mad skillz!

Sunday was Julie and my big day. Susan and Mary Test. We had a shoot with Maboroshi, which was fun! It's great seeing him around again. :] I was honestly surprised at the reaction to our costumes, and the number of people inquiring after Johnny. I think at one point I said we turned him into a bug and lost him....still looking. XD The highlight of the costumes: We made people laugh. Awesome. Caught up with :iconillyria-madison: and Jon (as Captain Jack) and hung out for a little longer. Eventually the trio of roomies headed home after a great day/weekend.

This morning, my legs STILL kill from Saturday (WHY do people ONLY crowd for photos when you are in the most uncomfortable of poses?????), and I am coughing...yay plague...

Overall, great weekend! I am sad I missed many friends who were there, but that's Megacon for you! It's HUGE!

Just a few more days until Megacon! Currently, I am helping :iconneko-kaolla: recover from Mono (we are determined that she will survive the weekend), but I still want to pull out "the Beast" (aka the wig for The Fight) and trim off flyaways and see about taming the pigtails for Saturdays. I did a makeup test on about 3/4 of my face last week, and wrote down what I did so I can save time on Saturday morning. :D

Finished schedule:
Friday - Black and White EGL
Saturday - The Fight
Sunday - Susan Test (so excited about this one!!!)

See everyone there!

Oh! BTW, anyone who is going to be in town on Thursday for Megacon who wants a warm-up photo shoot (costume or casual), message :iconneko-kaolla: to let her know. She, as well as Maboroshi, are having a Megacon warm-up photo shoot in the Universal Area (which is about 10 minutes, with traffic, from the OCCC).
