This costume was constructed by me (with a bit of help with some hand-sewing and later bead-work by  ) for METROCON 2008's theme of Light versus Dark. I was chosen as one of two dark mascots to represent my favorite convention! The fabrics used are polyester lace (carefully trimmed around details on the edges to create a decorative mock-scalloped edge), peachskin, and stretch velour. Every silver bead (after this photo was taken they were also scattered throughout the lace skirt, see [link] by  ) were sewn on by hand, and I made the pendant, eye-patch, and hair comb by hand. Everything on this costume has laces: the burgundy slip, vest, sleeves (non-fuctional), tights, gloves (see linked photo), and even the garter belt and boots have laced accents, although you can't see the former (LOL!)! As seen in the linked photo, I also added a choker. My favorite detail, honestly (as simple as they are), are the black Swarovski crystal buttons that embellish the sleeves. ^o^ The wig was a lucky find. I really wanted curls in black with burgundy highlights, and the wig shop owner picked out this style for me (after trying on several not-so-flattering styles), and he had the EXACT coloring in the back! <3<# |
